Now Showing: RDJ’s Sherlock Holmes, Zombieland

2010 is undoubtedly gonna be a great year for movie fans! Aside from the anticipated blockbusters: Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (March 2010), Iron Man 2 (May 2010), and the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (November 2010) - and fine, the next Twilight sequel, Eclipse (June 2010) - there are a couple of interesting releases that can tide moviegoers over till those big ones come out.

Review: Up (2009)

Pixar’s tenth feature film shows that the company haven’t lost their winning touch. I admittedly had lower expectations for the film, because while watching the trailers, all I was thinking was that “this’ll be cute,” but nothing much more. I didn’t think that it would have a great story to build around; well, after watching the film, all I can say is that you shouldn’t bet against Pixar so easily.

Review: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)

When a shady arms dealer threatens the world with his schemes and the use of highly-advanced nanotechnology, the world turns to G.I. Joe, an elite unit composed of the best military operatives from around the world.

And if that sounds kind of cartoony and silly, then that’s just because that’s exactly how this movie is.

Based on the popular toy line of Hasbro, The Rise of Cobra is your stereotypical Hollywood summer film: lots of bang (literally) for your buck, filled with big explosions, shiny rides, and a general silliness about it all.

Movie News: The Last Airbender and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender finally has a trailer!

The first of the planned Airbender trilogy has martial artist Noah Ringer in the titular role of Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara, Jackson Rathbone (Jasper in the Twilight films) as Sokka, and Dev Patel (of Slumdog Millionaire fame) as the Fire Nation’s Prince Zuko.

Review: Angels & Demons (2009)

Angels & Demons is the follow-up to 2006’s box-office hit The Da Vinci Code. Like it’s predecessor, this film stars Harvard professor Robert Langdon (Hanks), a brilliant professor with a penchant for historical scavenger hunts, who is tapped by the Vatican to help them unravel the schemes of an ancient secret society of scientists known as the Illuminati.

The Onion: Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film for Being “Fun,” “Watchable”

The Onion: Trekkies bash new Star Trek film for being “Fun, Watchable”

Review: Star Trek (2009)

Star Trek is a reimagination of the classic science fiction series. The film explores the histories of iconic characters James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto), from their early lives to their fateful meeting at Starfleet Academy, and eventually on the starship Enterprise. The pair and their band of heroes onboard the ship have to combat Nero (Eric Bana), a vengeful Romulan who threatens to destroy the Federation and its planets.

7 Habits of the Highly Effective MRT Commuters

The MRT (Metro Rail Transit) is one of the Philippines’ most convenient public transport systems. Stretching along the span of EDSA, it spares us from the long traffic, expensive cab fares, bumpy bus rides, reckless drivers, and sweltering hot jeepney rides. During rush hour, however, the MRT transforms itself into a jungle.

Here at Pinoy Idle, we provide you with Seven Habits that will help you endure the MRT rush hour experience.
