I attended Paramore in Manila last Tuesday, March 9, 2010. I’ve been looking forward to it for ages, and just as I do when attending concerts, I noted down the setlist (I’m OC that way):
- Ignorance
- Crushcrushcrush
- That’s What You Get
- Looking Up
- Careful
- Let The Flames Begin
- Never Let This Go
- The Only Exception

Alice in Wonderland, the much-hyped collaboration between director Tim Burton and the Disney company, is a live-action version of Lewis Carroll’s beloved classic. In this version of Alice, the titular character is now a young woman in her late teens, who returns to Wonderland to escape from an arranged (and surprise, for her at least) engagement party in Victorian London. Alice runs away to follow the White Rabbit, who leads her down through the rabbit hole, and into a whole new adventure in Wonderland.
The Hurt Locker ftw! It took home not only Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow, but also the coveted Best Picture award.
Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief tells the story of Percy Jackson (Lerman), a regular kid struggling with dyslexia and ADHD. Soon enough, though, Percy discovers that his “disabilities” are really because he isn’t a regular kid – he is a demigod, borne of Poseidon, Greek god of the sea, and a mortal woman…
The Pyromusical is now back and already roaring! Catch the First Philippine International Pyromusical Competition in Mall of Asia every Sunday, 7pm. Percy Jackson & The Olympians is a five-book adventure series written by Rick Riordan. It tells the stories of Percy Jackson (duh!), the Son of Poseidon (the Greek God of the Sea), and Percy’s battle against the bad guys (no spoilers here!). The series is a kid’s book, targeted for intermediate readers, but young-at-heart adults will most definitely enjoy the series.
Dear John is a romantic drama that tells the love story of John, a young soldier played by G.I. Joe and Step Up star Channing Tatum, and Savannah, a college student played by Mamma Mia and Jennifer’s Body star Amanda Seyfried.
The new trailer for the live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender looks pretty cool! I loved the show, so I’m excited for this one, casting controversy or not.
Looks like February ain’t gonna be so boring for movies after all.
After a slew of films released in January (most foreign holiday films were released just this year because of the MMFF), including The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (Heath Ledger’s last film, which I was unfortunately unable to catch in theaters), the excellent Sherlock Holmes, the underrated Daybreakers (another film we’ve mentioned in this space before, Legion, is still out, I think, but probably not for long) one might think that there won’t be any great stuff to tide moviegoers over till the big hits arrive for summer.
Fortunately, a trio of promising films opens today, which will complement Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (which has been getting good reviews; I’ve yet to watch it though) at your local moviehouse.

I’m really hoping Up In The Air will be shown here! I’ll also have to catch up on the ones I missed on the big screen. My goal for this year is to able to watch all the Best Picture nominees before the awards are [...]
