M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender finally has a trailer!
The first of the planned Airbender trilogy has martial artist Noah Ringer in the titular role of Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara, Jackson Rathbone (Jasper in the Twilight films) as Sokka, and Dev Patel (of Slumdog Millionaire fame) as the Fire Nation’s Prince Zuko.

Okay, so the gelled-up hair isn't what I expected, but the costumes look solid, and from the trailer, the special effects look amazing too.
i09 has some more behind the scenes stuff on the live-action recreation of the popular Nickelodeon animated series. I was a big fan of the show, and I initially had my doubts about this movie, but I guess one can only hope Mr. Shyamalan knows what he’s doing. The Last Airbender has a July 2010 release date.

In other news, Tim Burton’s adaptation of the classic children’s book Alice In Wonderland has also released some pictures. The film will be the seventh collaboration between the very popular and successful Tim Burton-Johnny Depp team, with Depp playing the role of the Mad Hatter. Anne Hathaway plays the White Queen, Helena Bonham-Carter plays the Red Queen, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. The film also features the talents of several other prominent actors, such as Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar and Christopher Lee as the Jabberwock, among others.

USA Today offers a first look at film, showcasing Burton’s vision of that world. The UK’s Guardian has more detailed write-ups on the main characters, and bigger pictures of the main characters.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that this is only the seventh Burton/Depp film (there certainly seem to be many more, eh?). I’ve liked all of the other six, so it’s no surprise that I’m quite excited for this one. The film is slated for a March 2010 release.
